TECHNOLOGY ACQUISITION AND COMMERCIALIZATION DEPARTMENT
NIRDA supports partner enterprises in selected value chains to help them improve their competitiveness through the acquisition and commercialization of appropriate technologies. Additionally, NIRDA supports the replication of successful projects for other private enterprises.
Core Services offered under the Technology Acquisition, Commercialization, and transfer:
- Technology acquisition: NIRDA supports private enterprises to acquire upgraded equipment.
- Technology commercialization: NIRDA facilitates the private sector to commercialize the acquired technologies through business Advisory.
- Technology transfer: transferring or disseminating technology from the source of its origination to, enterprises and places.
Program operations services:
- Management of NIRDA’s support programmes Including those for technology acquisition and absorption
- ‘Open Call’ management and administration (including Help Desk)
- Assess commercial, managerial and technical viability of all proposals for NIRDA support
- Commissioning of external technical assessment for proposals
- Secretariat to Projects Selection Committee
- Supporting replication of successful pilot to achieve impact at scale
- Provision of project managers for Project Matrix Teams

- Technical Assistance- we link Technical Experts to Industrialists.
- Industrial process engineering-we advise on industrial process improvement and resourceful skills.
- Facilitations in quality assurance, certification, and compliance- we make it accountable to support private firms on how better to acquire and maintain the standards of their products.
Open calls program
NIRDA carries out open calls to introduce firm-level interventions and innovations, aimed at improving Rwandan Enterprises' productive capabilities and capacity to produce competitive products, both for domestic and international markets.
This is a competitive process that involves selecting prospective SMEs to be supported in:
- Acquisition and adaptation of specific technologies needed to improve industrial competitiveness (in the form of equipment, software, or related investments);
- Acquisition and or provision of technical support and expertise necessary to maximize the use of equipment, processes or systems for technologies to improve their competitiveness;
Training of staff to maximize productivity through the use of new or the adaptation of existing technologies to improve their competitiveness.
