The outgoing Director General of National Industrial Research and Development Agency (NIRDA) Kampeta Sayinzoga on Monday bade farewell to the staff and urged them to work hard and always punch beyond weight if they are to take NIRDA to another level.
Kampeta who has been at NIRDA for two years was appointed new Chief Executive Offer of Development Bank of Rwanda (BRD) earlier last week. The handover ceremony was officiated by the permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Trade and Industry Michel Minega Sebera.
Speaking during the handover Kampeta thanked all the Staff members for combined efforts to perform their respective tasks and rise NIRDA’s profile. she handed over to Claire Mukeshimana who serves in capacity of Corporate Service Division manager (CSDM). Mukeshimana will be serving as the Acting Director General until when the new boss will be appointed.
Kampeta urged the NIRDA staff to keep the positive energy, push beyond and always strive to go above what would be their comfort zone as it could help them to go far.
“We set standards together and I am counting on you to keep those standards, my dream is that in 10 years from now everyone will be proud of this journey we have embarked on together almost from scratch,” Kampeta said adding that she personally enjoyed working together with the good team.
Specifically, she said that NIRDA has gone through tough times during the transition period and urged the staff to keep the momentum to ensure the institution achieves its mission of support the private sector and innovators.
“I thank the management team from the bottom of my heart we went through tough times, our transition was rough but we managed to rise NIRDA’s profile. People now know that NIRDA is there to serve the private sector, serve innovators, I am happy that now we understand the same way the mission and vision of NIRDA,” she said.
“It has been informative and learning process, we managed to perform all the tasks we were given and staff could move from one position to another, it is a good quality to have teams that can do many things. It is also important that you maintain that spirit .The capacity to move from one line to another is strength, keep the value of being flexible and focused,” she added.
NIRDA Staff have been left with mixed reactions saying that while Kampeta describing her as an encyclopedia that walks and talks. To them Kampeta was a leader, mentor and a college and a very hardworking woman.
The acting Director General Claire Mukeshimana thanked the outgoing DG and, on behalf of NIRDA, staff wished her all the best as she assumes new responsibilities.
“With you we have learnt a lot and we commit to applying all the management skills they have acquired under your leadership to ensure we take NIRDA to another level,” she said also thanking the ministry of Trade and Industry (MINICOM) and NIRDA’s Board Members who have always been on the side of NIRDA and offered necessary support.
PS Sebera thanked the outgoing DG for all efforts she had invested in NIRDA and the way she trained the staff stressing that she left the institution in good hands urging the management to always count on the ministry for any guidance and support.
